SD Pharmaceuticals
CITRULLINE MALATE 2000™ *Exclusive Size*
SD Pharmaceuticals’ CITRULLINE MALATE 2000™ is formulated with a scientifically validated dose of pure citrulline malate. Citrulline has been shown in research to play a key role in aerobic and anaerobic pathways of energy metabolism, as well as nitric oxide production, demonstrating its ability to enhance energy, reduce fatigue, and pump muscles up during workouts!
SD Pharmaceutical’s CITRULLINE MALATE 2000™ also delivers the supportive ingredient vitamin C and the patented absorption support complex AstraGin.
What Is Citrulline?
Citrulline is an amino acid that is converted to L-arginine in the body during the urea cycle, alongside the other amino acid L-ornithine. Supplementing with citrulline is a more effective way to raise arginine levels and enhance nitric oxide (NO) production in the body, rather than supplementing with arginine.
How Does Citrulline Work?
In the body, citrulline is converted to L-arginine in the kidneys, increasing the level of L-arginine in blood plasma. L-arginine is then readily available to feed into the nitric oxide synthase (NOS) pathway of NO production, converting L-arginine into NO, increasing blood flow and nutrient delivery to working muscles. Citrulline also plays a role in ATP production, increasing energy demands when required while also buffering buildup of ammonia in the muscle, reducing exercise fatigue and increasing workout endurance.
Why Use Citrulline?
Citrulline can help increase blood flow and nutrients to working muscles, help maintain nitrogen balance in the muscles, increase energy levels, help reduce fatigue and post-workout muscle soreness, and enhance endurance during exercise.

The Science Behind Citrulline Mallate
Increase Energy and Endurance
Citrulline can modulate enzymes involved in glycogen breakdown, glycogenolysis, and enzymes that convert glucose to ATP through glycolysis. This action shifts muscle from aerobic to anaerobic metabolism, reducing the rate at which the body uses up ATP and phosphocreatine, while also accelerating their replenishment. This means more energy is available to the muscles for longer working sets, a reduction in muscle fatigue and longer cardio sessions!
Reduces Ammonia and Prevents Muscle Burnout
Ammonia acts as a signal for muscle fatigue when it accumulates by inhibiting conversion of pyruvate to acetyl-CoA, blocking muscle contraction. Citrulline buffers ammonia, via the urea cycle, increasing ornithine levels, and promoting ureogenesis (production of urea) and bicarbonate reabsorption, which preserves bicarbonate and allows it to perform its buffering action against ammonia.
Reduces Post-Workout Muscle Soreness
Citrulline malate supplementation has been shown to reduce post-workout muscle soreness for up to 48 hours in trained athletes, while also reducing the sensation and onset of muscle fatigue.
Helps Increase NO Production
Citrulline increases plasma levels of L-arginine in a dose-dependent manner. It has been shown that supplementing with citrulline malate can help increase the levels of L-arginine, which in turn allows for more availability of L-arginine for the NOS pathway of NO production. More NO means greater blood flow and better nutrient delivery to working muscles.
Helps Restore Protein Synthesis
Citrulline may help restore muscle protein synthesis rates and muscular function simply by improving nitrogen balance and encouraging use of amino acids—particularly BCAA in muscles during exercise. Improved nitrogen retention and presence of BCAA helps signal the mTOR pathway of protein synthesis.
NOS Production Support – Vitamin C
This antioxidant helps increase the activity of the enzyme nitric oxide synthase, the protein that produces nitric oxide. It also helps sustain NO bioavailability.
Enhances Absorption – AstraGin™
CITRULLINE MALATE 2000 is formulated with the patented absorption complex AstraGin, which has been clinically shown to significantly improve nutrient absorption, ensuring maximum absorption with every serving of CITRULLINE MALATE 2000™.
